Mr Scruff is another new favourite of mine.ĭJ Okawari is pretty dope. How could I forget Boards of Canada?! Not quite trip hop but very similar in places. It might be a bit too far removed from hip-hop to really appeal to trip hop fans, though. Very strange in places, but great all the same.įlying Lotus is very strange altogether, but I'd say that a lot of trip hop fans would enjoy it. His album 'Eighty One' is really, really excellent.īonobo is another good artist. Yppah, too, is a bit more electronic, but also great. Check out his album 'Dive', it's truly a masterpiece of the genre, and his new album lands in March. Tycho is a bit more electronic than hip-hop (a lot, actually), but maybe you'll like it. Mmoths is another great producer who should scratch your itch. His "successor" Uyama Hiroto is great in my opinion. Staying in the realm of alternative hip hop, Nujabes is awesome, but he died in 2010 (?) so he's not producing anything new. It may be more hip hop than electronica, but Cyne is great too, and scratches my itch. Massive Attack and DJ Shadow are still releasing material, too! Take Pakt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box for example, or Feral. Radiohead is remarkably similar to trip hop in many ways, in my opinion.
